Instrumental Music Program

The Instrumental Music Department at Creekside K-9 College offers a range of instrumental lessons, which run during school time for 30 minutes per week. Students from Year 4 – 9 gain an insight into what it means to learn an instrument and apply these skills in one or more of the college ensembles. This is achieved through various semester concerts including the annual end of year concert, school assemblies, opening nights, information evenings, busking day, The Arts Festival, lunchtime concerts and community events.

Teachers design the program to follow a chosen stream which allows for technical, theoretical and individual work which are important areas to cover when learning to play an instrument.

The instruments offered include: Vocals, Guitar, Bass Guitar and Drum kit/ Percussion.

The music program is run in conjunction with the Victorian curriculum standards, allowing for a transition to VCE music performance subjects. These objectives are met within both the classroom and instrumental programs, including individual performances, technical and theoretical knowledge.
